I have noticed that many of the multiple "planters" on eBay can adjust their rows to as narrow a width as 24 inches. However, in driving through some of the farning communities nearby, I noticed many of the corn fields planted with rows running about 8" apart, for I guess high density yield.
When they plant their corn with such narrow spacing, do they typically use grain drills, such as those used for wheat and hay?
When they go to harvest such condensed corn fields, what equipment do they use? From what I have seen, I would suspect that neither a single or double row corn picker (such as the New Idea picker) or a crop forager would not be useable, because of the row spacing!
Any and all advice would be appreciated!
