When you boil peanuts they taste a lot like potatoes. They are both very starchy. Sometimes they take on the flavor of what they are cooked in.

I'm from Georgia, where peanuts and potatoes are grown along with other veggies like beets, which grow beneath ground. Peanuts don't taste like potatoes to me. Beets have an earthy flavor stronger than either. Perhaps your sense of taste is unique to you.

I figure there's something funny with your sense of taste or smell because I've never tasted any potatoes or peanuts that tasted alike.
